Position Title: Chief Executive Officer

Location: Canberra

Job description

  • National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peak Body to address Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence

  • Location: Canberra, ACT

  • Salary: $250,000 + super

  • Contract: 18 months - Full time

It is a genuine occupational qualification of the position that it be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person. Classified under: Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT)

Lead Historic Change

Be a part of a landmark initiative to establish a new National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peak Body dedicated to addressing family, domestic and sexual violence. Lead transformational change and position the organisation as the national voice for safer communities.

The Role

As the inaugural CEO, you will lead the Peak Body through its establishment phase, drive strategic development and set the organisation up for success.

Essential Requirements

  • It is a genuine occupational qualification of the position that it be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person

  • Significant executive experience in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled sector

  • Proven experience establishing new organisations

  • Strategic leadership and staff management experience

  • Understanding of the family, domestic and sexual violence policy landscape

  • Excellent communication and government advocacy skills

  • Experience with community-controlled governance structures
