Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced policy professional to apply their economic, employment and training skills and expertise to contribute to the work of the First Nations Economic Partnership.
Location: Canberra, ACT
Salary: $134,500 + 15% super
This position is being offered on a full-time maximum term contract basis, with an end date of 30 June 2030.
It is a genuine occupational qualification of the position that it be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person. Classified under: Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT)
The Role
The Assistant Director applies their policy expertise and communication skills to support the Coalition of Peaks to effectively participate in the First Nations Economic Partnership through providing high-quality policy advice and briefings, progressing out-of-session research and policy development and providing bespoke support to Peaks Members.
Qualifications, technical expertise and experience required
You will have an in-depth understanding of the factors affecting economic participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including expertise in economics, employment and/or training policy, programs and systems. The Assistant Director also requires a demonstrated understanding of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. You work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have the ability to adjust as priorities change.
You will be able to apply your policy, research or advocacy skills to achieve the objectives of the team. You are collaborative and a team player, who shares their knowledge and expertise with others to build capabilities across the team.
